Heading Towards 19th Century Internets
By VictorM: We focus so much on the major disasters of the Bush Agministration -- Iraq, Afghanistan, Katrina, Environment, Veterans' Benefits, Purgegate, etc. etc. -- that it's understandable we seldom talk about the total reach of neglect by this administration. It's not surprising they have shown no vision. After all, as Hillary Clinton put it, this administration has built a bridge to the 19th century. If Hillary had been wrong, this would not have happened:The US has lost its position as the world's primary engine of technology innovation, according to a report by the World Economic Forum. The US is now ranked seventh in the body's league table measuring the impact of technology on the development of nations. A deterioration of the political and regulatory environment in the US prompted the fall, the report said... Countries were judged on technological advancements in general business, the infrastructure available and the extent to which government policy creates a framework necessary for economic development and increased competitiveness. What did we expect from a president who knows nothing about the "internets", doesn't use e-mail, and was surprised they had bloggers in Baghdad?
