Idiot of the Day: Reliapundit
By VictorM: It's becoming easier these days to find candidates for the Idiot of the Day. I was a bit rushed today and thought I might have to skip this feature but in a few minutes I had my guy. What's prompting this onslaught of idiotic behavior? Fear, as always.Take this guy... please. What an amazing level of hyperbole and stupidity. And the all caps are his:
WHILE THE UK'S LEFT-WING PM COWERS AT THE FEET OF THE MULLAH'S IF IRAN, THE TOWNS AND CITIES WITHIN HER OWN SHORES ARE RAPIDLY BECOMING ISLAMIFIED. 70 YEARS. AND THEN SHARIA.Ooooo, how scary. As we all know, Muslims are war-mongers, homosexual hating, male chauvinistic, religious fanatics, bent on forcing their religion on the rest of us. Oh wait... um... those are right-wing Christians.
UNLESS EUROPE TAKES HARSH ACTION NOW, EURABIA IS INEVITABLE, AND WITH IT THE END OF A CIVILIZATION.
THIS IS A REAL THREAT - UNLIKE "MAN-MADE GLOBAL WARMING".
Projection is a darn thing.

Guns: Check Your Clocks - This Is the 1800s
By VictorM: Since 1976, Washington DC has had a strict law against allowing its citizens to own guns. That law was challenged and the court of appeals ruled that the law is unconstitutional. The city will appeal. I wish it didn't.It's time the Democrats realized that a majority of Americans like their guns as much as they like porn, gambling, cheating on their spouses, and other such behavior that today passes for "family values." Besides, gun ownership has no material impact on crime rate one way or the other. I say let the bozos who want the killing machines have them; we all know the criminals do. Not everyone agrees:
D.C. resident Kenny Barnes, who became a gun control advocate after his 37-year-old son was shot to death on U Street NW, called the ruling "crazy.""What kind of message are you sending?" Barnes asked. "This is not Dodge City in the 1800s."Wake up, Kenny. Bush is in office and the NRA and the Christian Right control the agenda -- this is Dodge and it is the 1800s!

Christian Environmentalist Needs To Be Pushed Out
By William Saletan: Rev. Richard Cizik, an executive at the National Association of Evangelicals, has led Christian environmentalists for "creation care." In response, several groups have sent the NAE a letter suggesting he should be silenced or pushed out. Their complaints: 1) Global warming may not be caused by humans. 2) It's a left-wing hoax to promote birth control and impede capitalism. 3) It's a diversion from bigger issues such as abortion, gay marriage, and abstinence. Cynical view: Don't worry—if we destroy the world, God can make us another one in six days.

They are still out there
By JoieDe, disagreeing with the proposition that the far-right movement is dead: The religious right is still out there, awaiting the end times... the end of abortion, the end of contraception, the end of homosexuality, the end of non-born-agains. Reason doesn't enter into their world, and "persecution" just makes their faith stronger.Labels: christian right

Christian right since November
By Rude Pundit: Sometimes you just gotta sit back and enjoy the panic on the Christian right since November. They're flailing around now, their leaders descending into madness because of their suppressed libidos and weakening grip on power, their minions running away, their politicians disappearing into the dark limbo of the loser's graveyard, their cause now nothing more than what it always was: steps backward, steps backward, when the unstoppable urge is forward.Labels: christian right
