Guns: Check Your Clocks - This Is the 1800s
By VictorM: Since 1976, Washington DC has had a strict law against allowing its citizens to own guns. That law was challenged and the court of appeals ruled that the law is unconstitutional. The city will appeal. I wish it didn't.It's time the Democrats realized that a majority of Americans like their guns as much as they like porn, gambling, cheating on their spouses, and other such behavior that today passes for "family values." Besides, gun ownership has no material impact on crime rate one way or the other. I say let the bozos who want the killing machines have them; we all know the criminals do. Not everyone agrees:
D.C. resident Kenny Barnes, who became a gun control advocate after his 37-year-old son was shot to death on U Street NW, called the ruling "crazy.""What kind of message are you sending?" Barnes asked. "This is not Dodge City in the 1800s."Wake up, Kenny. Bush is in office and the NRA and the Christian Right control the agenda -- this is Dodge and it is the 1800s!

I live on U Street NW, and it's pretty funny how often I have heard gun shots, seen guns flashed, brandished, pointed at people, and used in crime WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSEDLY ILLEGAL.
Strange, how criminals don't seem to care for the law. Anyway, I would really like a gun in my home here to protect myself. I sold my guns when I moved to DC from Washington state to obey the law, but it seems i'm a minority in the respect in this city.
