Smoking While Pregnant
Shirley asks...
I'm 26 weeks and sometimes I still smoke. I want to stop but I can't seem to. What should I do to try to stop. I do want a healthy Baby!
Stacy Says...
You just have to quit. There's no magic words or secret potion. You have to love your baby more than you love your cigarettes. It's that simple. All other medications, patches, etc. can harm the baby as well. Be a loving, responsible mother and STOP SMOKING.

My aunt was told when she was pregnant, and going through the same thing, was that it was too late for her to quit that far into the pregnancy, because the baby would have withdrawel symptoms that could be harmful.
I don't know how much fact is in that, but thats what her doctor told her.

smoking = not healthy baby
It's your choice and you're choosing cigarettes over your child.
He/she is in for a rough life already.
Have you thought of adoption? Maybe you can find some parents who wouldn't dare put their child in harms way. That would be nice.

I have to say here that it isn't a gauranteed fact that a child from a smoking mother will have a 'rough life'. Most children have medical issues as they grow up, both from smoking, and nonsmoking parents.
My aunt has three children, and smoked throughout all pregnancies, one has chronic asthma, the doctors say it's completly genetic, and not caused by the smoking, as the other two children have no problems at all.
My mum smoked with both my and my sister, and we turned out fine as well.
