Doesn't LIKE Her Like Her
Chelsea, 14
Maryland
Asks:
I used to go out with this really great guy. But then he didn't want a girlfriend so I totally understood and we stayed friends. At my school we had an end of the year dance thingy and we went together as a date. We get there and we are having a great time. We were acting like a couple and then he tells me he doesn't "like" me like that. I cried my eyes out. Now we have to go to the same high school and we will be seeing a lot of each other. So what do I do? I still have strong feelings for him. Please Help.
Lee's Thoughts:
Get over it. Be cool.
He told you he didn't want a girlfriend. He also told you he didn't like you like that. What else are you going to do? Crawl into a hole for the next four years? Just forget about it. If he's in your classes, treat him like a buddy and don't talk to all of your girlfriends about how MUCH YOU REALLY REALLY LOVE HIM, because there's no point.
The best thing you can hope for is to be his friend (if you can handle that). Breathe deep and look around for someone else to focus your romantic attentions on. By the time school starts, you'll both have forgotten everything and will be moved on to bigger and better dramas.

One of thr first things you said was that you understood that he didn't want a girlfriend. Obviously he said this in the beginning because he isn't interested in you as more than a friend, he was just kind enough not to say it...but you obviously kept pushing, or he wouldn't have come out with the comment of not liking you that way.
You are 14. You'll have plenty more guys to be obsessed with and cry over. Go enjoy your adolesence (sp?)

chelsea i know exactly how you feel. I am also 14 but i know guys very well! dont try to avoid your feelings because if you do that you might end up liking him more then you do now! just because he isnt interested in you doesnt mean someone else isnt who is much better for you then him! please listen i am trying to tell you this because i am also a teen who understands all of this stuff! when a guy says he wants to be just friends then he really means it! dont spend all your time on one guy have fun while you still are a teen!
Cry, and let it go. Guys/men usually keep feelings to themselves: and, if they express them, the feelings will have to do with food, beer, or sports. Or, possibly, their favorite place to watch women in the naked state (strip clubs, etc).
Men are usually WAY behind women in emotions, and emotional maturity. So, learn strength NOW, dear girl, because MOST men until you hit 70 will be this shallow.
And they wonder why we have penis envy...fuckers. Must be nice to have it so available and easy to find.
Why do you think women are known for their emotions?
Because: if we had something as fun and easy to grab as a PENIS, instead of this little nub of a clit (all the nerve endings, just concentrated), NOBODY would care about how anybody felt -
we would all be fucking and masturbating and NOT PAYING ATTENTION to anyone's rights/etc...
it would be a total free-for-all...

Um...that nub of a clit has TWICE as many nerve endings as the penis.
Anon, your last dramatic statement doesn't really hold water, but thanks for playing.
