COMMENT: NY Times "Date Movie" Review
In this New York Times review of "Date Movie", the reviewer Anita Gates, after explaining she saw the movie with a group of adolescents in the theater, has this observation about the movie:

The film has a nascent sense of the absurd but doesn't know what to do with it. And some of the references are to films ("Pretty Woman," "Sleepless in Seattle") made when the target audience was in diapers. Or in utero.Has Ms. Gates ever heard of video rentals and movies on cable? Seems to me that most movie going adolescents are very familiar with those movies. Also, it seems common to include humor that adults can relate to in movies targeted to younger crowds because parents often accompany the youngsters to the movies. This practice was believed to be part of the success of the Shrek movies.
