Ways that you can tell if a boy is interested
Aaliyah, 17, from Illinois, asks: How and what are some ways that you can tell if a boy is interested in you when he sees you? Keep in mind that he doesn't know me, but I like him to death. He sees me often. What's the key thing you can say or do, to let him know that your interested?

You can tell if a boy is interest in you if he changes his behavior when he sees you. Could be something subtle, but if you pay attention you'll notice it. For example, if he's being loud with his friends, does he quiet down when he sees you? One problem: is he doing that for you or for the girl behind you? It sucks when that happens.
You can let him know you're interested without telling him. Here are a couple of examples: If you have a change to greet him, do it and use his name ("Hi Jim" works much better than "Hi".) Another way is to pay him a subtle compliment ("Nice shirt, Jim") and walk away.
If you have the courage to do these things that boy will be yours. If you don't have the courage, well... wash his car.
Actually, I'm going to twist a joke to suit this question.
Question: How do you get a boy to like you?
Answer: You show up at his house naked.

Victor, I like most of your comments, they are sensible most of the time. However, it seems to me only nervous or insecure or very young (read immature) guys would change their behavior noticeably when the girl they like is around. What about mature, confident guys who know how to control their behavior? How do we tell in that case?

Victor, for crying out loud! This girl is 17, not even close to getting advice on how to be a womanly tart! Even if you are joking, young women need to be treated as such and taken seriously...

hey um i have two questions the first one is...this boy i talk to all the time i cant tell if he likes me or not..he flirts but then he dosent...idk hez very odd..but we talk on the phone for hours and hours and we seem to have a good time together when we are together but its just something that i cant point out...he is just not an obvious person when it comes to these things..and my 2nd question is my ex we have been on and off and we stopped talking in december and we just now started talking but only because i wanted to..now he has a girlfriend but we talk about personal things and he said he would leave his girlfriend for me but only because of the sex cuz we had lost our virginity together and im the only person he has been with and the same for me..does he still have feelings for me?

Hi Aaliyah,
You might try talking to him and finding out what he is interested in. There is no way to really make this guy like you, that's up to him. If he shows interest, you can ask him out or wait for him to ask you out. If he doesn't show interest move onto the next guy. I'm sure there will be another guy you like who comes along.

ok, there is this guy at my school, who i know looks at me alot, and anytime i say hi to him he smiles alot. BUt he is very violent, really. Like he takes books away from me and stuff. And sometimes, when i smile, hejust stares at me, or tries to make me laugh. Andone day hetold me he did'nt exactly hateme. So like whats the deal with thisguy, dose he like me or not.

hi i like this guy ar my camp and he probbly doesn't know me at all and every time i get pretty close to him i run away its soo weird because i don't want to leave my feet do but i don't, and i keep getting acused with my freind he is kninda dorky all my freinds are guys mostly... i don't know what to do because there is this other guy says he likes me but it might be a prank cause he is popular so idk someone come to my resuce pleaseeeeee!!!!!!!!

I am too afraid to talk to this guy I really like. Ever since I found out I liked him, I'e been to nervous to look at him. He seemed to like me before because he kept staring at me. But now he does not even loook at me anymore. That's mostly why I am afraid to talk to him, because I am not sure he likes me.

Hey um... I have this guy friend and him and i use to be the best of friends until summer started and we were on the phone for hours every day, when school started it seemed like i had feelings for him, now that he found out he seems to be really strange around me, He think im stalking him or im around him too much, but hes always with my friends, then this misunderstanding happened and it became even weirder. Theres this guy at work that I am really interested in. I know he likes me because he tried asking my sister what kind of guys I like! He asked if I was single. I got more info from a friend of mine who is like a father to me..he got info from him saying that he likes me. But the guy I like has no clue of what I think of him.
I dont get him, he asks me questions, little questions. Maybe Im overreacting but I dont know. Either hes too shy or hes scared that I might say no to him "IF" he decides to ask me out!
